From a compact plan to a bespoke design

What does an outdoor kitchen cost?

Anyone considering an outdoor kitchen would rather not wait through several conversations to learn what range they are in. In our category it is common to hold the price back until an appointment. We think that is the wrong way to begin.

So here are the orders of magnitude we actually work with.

Made-to-order work cannot be reduced to a flat rate

Why there is no price per square metre

Every FREILUFT Kitchen is made to order. It is planned for the setting rather than assembled from a catalogue. Two kitchens of the same length can differ considerably in price, because one has three functional sections and the other has seven.

A flat price would either be an invention or an average that applies to no actual project. What does exist are realistic orders of magnitude.

An outdoor kitchen deserves a price you can talk about

Why we state the figures openly

Searching for the price of an outdoor kitchen usually turns up phrases such as ‘on request’. That costs both sides time: you hold conversations in order to learn a number — we hold conversations with people for whom the range turns out not to fit.

So we state the ranges in advance. If your project sits in a different range, you will know that in five minutes rather than five weeks.

Example projects for orientation, not quotations

Three planning sizes

Compact plan — around 22,500 euros. A clear, straight kitchen concentrated on a few carefully chosen functions. Equipment in this example: Flammkraft, river-stone basin, stainless steel tap.

Extensive ambient kitchen — around 49,500 euros. Several functional sections, high-quality appliances, individually made details. Equipment in this example: drawers, wooden shelves, barbecue fire, refrigerator, kamado barbecue, counter.

Large bespoke design — around 57,500 euros. Where the kitchen becomes part of the architecture: L-shape, island, counter, barbecue fire or particular engineering solutions. Equipment in this example: plancha, drawers, barbecue fire, wok burner, water station, door for the corner element, counter, refrigerator, wooden shelves.

All figures include VAT. They are example projects for orientation, not quotations — your project may sit above or below them.

Six factors that make the difference

What determines the price

Size and form. A straight run is simpler in engineering terms than an L-shape with a corner element. Corners require their own solutions for doors, pull-outs and worktop joints.

Number of functional sections. Every section of the cabinet body is configured for its task. A section with a refrigerated drawer is a different undertaking from a section with storage.

Appliances and their integration. It is not the appliance price alone that counts, but the housing: cut-outs, ventilation, supply lines, ease of operation.

Natural stone and surfaces. Natural stone is a grown material. Price and availability depend on the stone, not on the square metres alone.

Individual bespoke solutions. A draught beer system, a dishwasher, an illuminated back panel, a dimension that has not existed before.

Delivery and installation. Distance, access and the on-site situation all make a difference.

Fewer functions, not less substance

What stays the same regardless of price

The compact plan receives the same PureAlu cabinet body as the large bespoke design: precision plates made from 8 mm marine-grade aluminium, nano-ceramic pre-treatment, Off-Shore powder coating, concealed connections and only those penetrations the engineering requires.

The same engineering principles, the same production in Nordwalde, the same manufactory number. On the components of the PureAlu cabinet body we provide a 30-year guarantee in accordance with the guarantee conditions applicable at the time — regardless of how large your kitchen turns out to be.

Three details are enough for a first assessment

How to gauge your own range

Your location, the approximate size and the project timeframe you have in mind. That is enough to say which order of magnitude your project sits in — before anyone drives out to see you.

How to keep the scope sensible on a limited area is set out in the article on the small outdoor kitchen. What the basic form means for effort and price is covered under straight runs, L-shapes and islands.
