Most outdoor kitchens look excellent on the day they are installed. Once your kitchen stands outdoors, however, it will meet conditions you are unlikely to be thinking about on installation day: rain, UV radiation, frost, temperature swings, perhaps salt-laden air.
So an outdoor cabinet body should not be judged by how it looks when new, but by how it has been engineered.
The PureAlu cabinet body of your FREILUFT Kitchen is made from solid 8 mm marine-grade aluminium. The alloy is highly corrosion-resistant and is also proven in shipbuilding.
We deliberately use stress-relieved precision material. It is particularly dimensionally stable and designed to hold its dimensions reliably under changing external conditions.
Over many years an outdoor kitchen is exposed again and again to temperature swings, heat, cold and moisture. What matters, therefore, is how well the whole construction stays under control over the long term.
Look inside a FREILUFT cabinet body and you will not find universal rows of holes. Every penetration serves a specific purpose.
The more closed the construction remains, the fewer points of exposure there are for moisture and other external influences. We therefore place openings only where the engineering genuinely requires them.
The colour of your kitchen should not only convince on the first day. The aluminium therefore receives a powder coating built up for demanding outdoor use, with the corresponding pre-treatment.
The nano-ceramic protective layer is a step you cannot see on the finished piece — and whose absence you can see after a few winters.
You will hardly be able to prevent moisture from finding its way into an outdoor construction at some point. So a different question matters more: how does it get out again?
The cabinet body is prepared for this too. The drawers are engineered to shed water, and an integrated drainage system carries moisture deliberately to the outside.
